About Northwoods Tapping & Supplies LLC

Northwoods Tapping & Supplies LLC is a maple syrup supply and equipment business in Owen, Wisconsin, serving backyard hobbyists and commercial producers. We are an H2O Leader and Sunrise Evaporator dealer, offering tapping supplies, tubing, fittings, containers, and equipment. We also run our own sugarbush, so our advice comes from experience using the products and systems we sell.

Our History

Our story began with Amos Lavern’s early interest in tapping trees. He started tapping in 2020 using bags when he was just 14 years old and scaling up to 2,000 taps and selling sap to a neighbor. Before long, backyard tapping supplies were being sold through the family’s appliance and hardware store, Northwoods Appliance Sales.

In 2024, we decided to take both the store and our own tapping operation to the next level by partnering together, putting in tubing under high vacuum, and becoming a dealer for H2O Innovations Leader maple products. In 2025, we built our store at James’s place, and we celebrated our grand opening on January 31, 2026.

Products We Carry

We carry H2O Leader and Sunrise Evaporator equipment, along with the supplies needed for collecting sap and making maple syrup. Our selection includes evaporators, reverse osmosis systems, pumps, tubing, fittings, filter presses, and syrup containers. We also make select products of our own, including tapping hammers, stainless steel flat pans, and poly bag holders. Contact us for equipment options, quotes, and availability.

We help maple producers plan, install, and maintain their sap collection systems. Services include:

  • Sugarbush evaluations, line mapping, and tree marking

  • Mainline and lateral tubing installation

  • Sugarhouse and pump house layout planning

  • Wet-dry line leveling and system improvements
